This mother asks simple questions, not in an interrogating, punishing way, but more as little gifts that honor and nourish her son's intelligence. Brian's mother, instead of screaming, "Where have you been? How many times have I told you not to wander off into those woods alone? And I just cleaned your room and what's that slimy animal doing in your drawer? Brian!" Not so in this book. At the back, with birds above and rats beneath a garden shed, the store wants you to feel like you're outside.īesides feeding us a design concept, there are other, deeper layers of flavor in this favorite book. Midway, things begin to change, there's a tree-trimmer sheetrocked in the ceiling on a ladder, and the ceiling itself at this point starts to crack open to the sky. Our store's front doors open into a fairly conventional interior with carpet, a comfortable reading chair and floorlamp. "and next to me, on the boulder with its head resting on soft moss, the salamander will sleep."Īrchitecture doesn't have the luxury of page-turning, but instead allows us a front-to-back spatial progression. And at the end, the last pages show Brian sound asleep in his bed in the woods. Each illustration shows a step in a process that changes a conventional interior to an exterior: gradually walls and ceilings disappear, wildlife moves in and then takes Brian and the reader back out. His answers both accommodate the new salamander and magically transform the world of his bedroom. And for each question, Brian has an answer. Each page of the story that follows is driven by his off-stage mother's questions. And today it continues to teach us about books and young people, and about adults who love them.Īlone, Brian goes into the woods, discovers a salamander and takes it home to his bedroom. In 1992, we first used this story as a kind of blueprint for building the store. Over the years, Wild Rumpus has had a sort of conversation with the book The Salamander Roomby Anne Mazer. This piece was written by Tom Braun, co-founder of Wild Rumpus, who passed away in 2018.

During my testing, RealTimes for Android kept crashing when trying to add my own music but I was using a pre-release version.Īnother problem I found was that longer Stories took a long time to export. You can also do a voice over for your video for a personal touch. Speaking of music, there's a ton of stock music included in the app but you can add your own music if you want. It's not going to unlock everything like a subscription but it does give you a few more features. Subscribers also get the ability to make longer Stories.įor those who don't want to pay monthly, there is a $1 in-app purchase to unlock the ability to add more photos, change music, and remove the RealTimes watermark. the $5 per month subscription nets you 25GB of cloud storage while the $10 per month plan gets you unlimited storage. Subscriptions will get you more storage and features. You can tweak each story before sharing, adding your own music, switching transition effects, or swapping the order of your photos and videos. This feature automatically uploads all your photos and video clips to the cloud and will automatically be made into Stories. Users can get an additional 5GB of storage for enabling Auto Upload in the app. RealTimes is free to use and comes with 2GB of cloud storage for free and are limited to 30 second Stories. This makes revisiting your old photos fun and a hit with your friends. One nice thing about RealTimes is that it scans all of your photos and videos, including ones you forgot about. The app auto-converts the video to each platform using RealPlayer technology. There's no need to export your video to a specific file format. Sharing a Story on Facebook shows up as an embedded video that plays right there in your friends' timeline.ĭuring my testing, Stories created by RealTimes worked flawlessly on my devices. You can still share RealTimes stories with your friends who don't have an account. Thankfully RealTimes doesn't force users into signing up. Your friends and family will be alerted when you add new photos, videos, or create stories. There's also a social network aspect to RealTimes. You're better off adding your own filters from Instagram or VSCO Cam before using them to create Stories in RealTimes. The app also features video filters, but they're all pretty terrible. If you don't like what RealTimes came up with the first time, you can hit the 'Remix' button to randomize that Story. I found the algorithm to work well for the most part but favors faces, excluding some really good shots. Blurry, dark, or duplicate photos are ignored so your slideshows only include the best. The app uses Real's algorithm that scans your photos to pick the ones that are best. RealTimes takes the tediousness out of compiling photos and videos to share with your friends. I strongly considered a Fender DR or Bassman etc but the gain ch was calling me and as I already have quality trem/verb etc the Orange was worth a good long look.Ĭonsidering this amp is cheap with buckets loads of gain and can really nicely handle classic rock to metal as well as having a great clean is pretty impressive. I added a little trem and it was like any wonderful sounding high end Fender. I wanted something lighter/smaller/lower wattage than my other amps but something that still had loads of gain (essentially like the DT) but with a solid clean channel.TH30 was getting some pretty rave reviews so I read everything I could find, found a head and PPC112 (both in black) for a great price and took the plunge.įirstly, the clean ch.it's a great clean! By itself it's really warm and full but when I tried it with a Space, Timeline, CAL Holy Fire, Empress Para EQ and Kingsley Juggstrel running all at once (I know, I know) I was absolutely blown away by how it souned. I liked the raw sound to start, but this made me REALLY like it, and I think if you were worried about buying an Orange because you didn’t think it could be made to sound like the contemporary high gain guitars you’re hearing in modern heavy mixes, this should assuage some of your worries.I recently got an Orange Dark Terror and figured that seeing it's essentially the gain ch of the TH30 the TH30 was a good amp to upgrade to. All I’ve done is placed the Airis Savage drive in front and cranked up the tight and bite settings to emphasize the parts of the sound that will make it cut, and trimmed out the woofy low end that will muddy the mix. What you’re hearing in the demo is the same performances reamped through the same amp, same settings, and same cab sim. The TH30 is a super simple, 6-knob amp, with a 2-band EQ for the clean channel and a single Shape knob on the dirty channel that takes you through a multiverse of tone combinations with the sweep of a single pot. But if Orange is looking to the future, I think they might consider making an amp that sounds like this – it’s still Orange, but now it’s got cool sunglasses on. You might think that it sounded better without any boost or tweaking, and if so, great, you’re gonna have a great time with this amp as is and you don’t need me telling you how to live your life. There’s nothing wrong with the tone straight from the amp – it’s big and fat and warm, with a very full sound, as you heard, and I do think it sounds awesome all by itself, but I wanted to just kick it in the ass a little bit to show that Orange is more flexible than you might think and with a little tone sculpting and boosting, I think I managed to bring it into the 21st century. Of course, there’s plenty of room for Orange and no shortage of rock and metal musicians looking for classic guitar tones that the different Orange amps offer.īut I wanted to try a little bit of an experiment today, as to whether I can make a classic sound like this Orange TH30 more tight, aggressive, bright, and cutting for a dense modern metal mix. When speaking in a recent interview with Orange Amps founder Cliff Cooper, we talked about the future of Orange, and how the Orange sound isn’t going to change anytime soon and he told me he wasn’t really sure of their place in the modern music world. On today’s edition of Gear Gods Quality Control, we’re going to see if we can take a classic sound into the modern era with the Orange TH30! What’s up Gear Mortals, Trey Xavier here. Customers need receipts in case they have any issues with a product or want to return or exchange it, and you need to be able to verify that a customer’s claims are correct. No matter how you choose to give them out, receipts are an important proof-of-purchase document for both customers and businesses. Nearly 70% of Americans prefer paper receipts, so even businesses that operate entirely online should consider sending them out when delivering products. Many e-commerce businesses send email receipts immediately after the customer makes a purchase, though some may choose to physically mail it when sending the products out for delivery. In brick and mortar businesses, they’re usually printed or written on the spot, though some also offer electronic receipts sent via email. Receipts can either be physically or electronically given to a customer. Though businesses are not legally required to provide a receipt for all transactions, receipts are virtually always given to a customer after they make a purchase, making them common among both traditional and e-commerce businesses. It is a document confirming that a customer received the goods or services they paid a business for - or, conversely, that the business was appropriately compensated for the goods or services they sold to a customer. While an invoice is a request for payment, a receipt is the proof of payment. Writing an invoice is actually rather simple, but there are a few important elements that you have to include with every single invoice you create. Whether written or electronic, you must pay close attention to your invoices, as they help ensure that you’re paid promptly and correctly for your services. An effective online invoice management platform can simplify and expedite the entire invoicing process for both e-commerce and traditional businesses. Electronic invoices (also called e-invoices) are almost certainly the best option for e-commerce businesses since virtually all of your business is already conducted online. Traditionally, invoices are printed and sent to a customer through the mail or fax, but they can also be sent electronically. However, any business, regardless of what they sell, can make use of invoices when they need to bill customers after the sale. For this reason, they’re especially common among companies that sell in large quantities, such as manufacturers or wholesalers, and among freelance workers that provide services rather than goods, such as writers or graphic designers. Invoices are typically issued to a customer after they have received their goods or services, but before payment has been received. Similar to a bill, it lists what goods or services were provided, how much they cost, and which forms of payment the seller accepts. To keep your business running as smoothly, it’s important to know how these two documents differ, what information to include in each one, and when it’s better to issue a receipt or an invoice to your customers.Īn invoice is a document, sent by the seller to the customer, that requests payment for products or services. Although these two documents have similar functions, they are incredibly different from each other. Most companies use a combination of receipts and invoices to record transactions for themselves and their customers, and it’s likely that you’ll have to do the same. It’s equally important for your customers to have documentation of the transaction, for their own financial records, and in the event that they have an issue with their order.Īs a business owner, you need to determine what the best record-keeping method is for your organization. Without a record of purchases, returns, or exchanges, it’s impossible to keep your finances in order, take care of your business’s taxes, or monitor your company’s performance. Leave stems of seed-bearing plants such as coneflowers standing to help feed birds over winter. Tip 9: Don’t Overdo the End-of-Season Tidy Up Stop picking, and they’ll stop producing, so check plants and pick regularly to encourage a steady supply. Some plants that produce fruits or pods – for instance beans, zucchini and tomatoes – must to be harvested regularly to keep them cropping. Mulching with weed-free organic matter helps keep weed seeds that are on or near the soil surface from germinating. Hoeing is fast and easy, and you can simply leave severed weeds on the soil surface to wither in the sun. Using a sharp hoe, hoe close to the surface between rows to avoid damaging the roots of nearby crops. Remove weeds regularly so they don’t have time to set seed and spread. Plants in containers will dry out faster, so keep a close eye on them and water as needed. This makes roots grow deep into the soil to seek moisture, which results in more robust plants. It’s better to water heavily occasionally than a sprinkle every day. Most plants need an average of 1-2 inches of water a week. Get a head start by sowing under cover into plug trays or pots, but make sure your seedlings get plenty of light or they will fail to thrive. Seedbeds must have a fine, crumbly texture. Once your soil has warmed up and dried out enough to become workable, it’s at last safe to start sowing outdoors. Our Garden Planner automatically works out your frost dates based on your location, and uses this to recommend when you should be sowing, planting, and harvesting the plants in your garden plan. In most areas your last and first frost dates define your growing season. Tip 4: Take Your Timeĭon’t plant too soon, or tender seedlings will be damaged by a sudden frost or may struggle to grow well. Don’t rely on fertilizers – while they can be used for a short-term boost, organic matter is needed to build long-term soil health. Over time, this will enrich soil, help it drain better, and make for a healthier environment for roots. Simply lay it on the soil surface as a mulch. Manure must be composted for at least six months before using because fresh manure contains weed seeds, may harbor disease, and can negatively affect plants due to its very high nitrogen content.Īdd organic matter at least once a year, but ideally more often.
